Dry and mild was how MetService meteorologist Georgina Griffiths summed up Wanganui's weather in October.
"High pressures ruled the roost over the North Island, making for a dry and warm October," Ms Griffiths said.
The mean temperature for the month was 13.9C, 0.6C above the average. The mean morning temperature was 10.2C and the mean afternoon temperature was 17.6C, both up on the average.
Ms Griffiths said the hottest day was the 4th, with 19.8C recorded; and the coldest morning was seen on the last day of the month, the 31st, with a minimum of 5.4C. October was also a dry month for Wanganui. At Spriggens Park recording station, rainfall was 57.6mm, or 65 per cent of the October average.
"The wettest day was in the 24 hours to 9am on October 24, with 29.2mm - or more than half of the month's rain," Ms Griffiths said.
