Nigel Roper shows a group of 14 volunteers how to scan photographs and documents. He's from Micrographic Services, a Wellington business that specialises in heritage scanning.
From next month the trained volunteers will be rostered at Wanganui's Alexander Library in the afternoons, ready to scan World War I items for a Whanganui Regional Heritage Trust project, chairwoman Wendy Pettigrew said.
The scans will be held by the trust and could possibly appear in its Great War Times publication or be given to Whanganui Regional Museum. The objects' owners will get a copy, and the scanning will also be taken out into the region during the next two years.
