A man who drunkenly crashed his car into a house was heard calling for his dog before fleeing the scene.
Raymond Thomas Townsend had a blood alcohol reading of 198mg when he hit a house on Kawakawa Street.
He was more than twice the legal limit which is 80mg.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Drew Morrison told Whanganui District Court on Tuesday Townsend was heard calling for his dog after the crash.
Police found the driver at his home, where he was arrested and taken back to the station.
