The trio who organised last year's Whanganui Summer Programme has finished the year in the black and is now gearing up for the next summer.
The Whanganui Summer Programme Trust is in its fourth year. Chairman Ian Bell has just released his report for the financial year to June 30.
During it, the trust's three members, with the help of 13 partner groups, put on a total of 31 public events for more than 1300 people. Several of those trips didn't break even financially, but with donations and interest the trust still finished the year with $16,000 in the bank.
"We've been prudent in what we do," Mr Bell said.
The other members of the trust are David Scoullar and Wendy Pettigrew, and he was particularly grateful to Miss Pettigrew for the huge amount of time she put into organisation.
