Some bulky items went out the door on Saturday - but more has to go, City Missioner Shirley Joy Barrow says.
She's keeping the present sale at Wanganui's Mission Possible store going for another week. Everything is in one space and prices are "in a range that people on low incomes can afford".
The shop has to urgently sell off some of its large stock of furniture, mattresses and appliances because it will have less storage space when the Conservation Department moves into the building next door.
It held a sale on Saturday morning, with 400 flyers distributed at the River Traders' Market.
Ms Barrow said the two staff and volunteers took $700 and made four or five $10 deliveries of large items like furniture and mattresses.
That was good, she said, but more has to go.
"We may have to look for somewhere to store some of the bigger items and put them back in the shop when there is space."
She was reluctant to dump stock, because that cost money, and said the shop had to keep enough items to give away an average of 40 or 50 lots of furniture every year.
