Even businesses facing challenges should enter the Whanganui Regional Business Awards 2018.
That's the word from Whanganui Chamber of Commerce and Industry chief executive Marianne Archibald after the launch of the awards.
"We encourage you to discuss the things you find challenging as well as what you are doing well," she said.
"This is a way of taking stock of your business and an opportunity to get useful feedback. Everyone has challenges, so you won't get marked down for this – instead judges will look at your plans to manage the challenges you are facing."
The application form is online this year to make the process easier for applicants and judges.
The award categories and their sponsors are digital (Ultrafast Fibre), environmental sustainability (Whanganui District Council Waste Minimisation Levy Fund), hospitality (UCOL), tourism (Air Chathams), emerging business (Whanganui River Market), manufacturing and logistics (Centreport) and trade services and supplies (AWF).
There are also categories for small business, professional services, retail, rural and not for profit. Businesses that are interested in sponsoring these categories should email ce@whanganuichamber.net.nz
Applicants can enter all categories that are relevant to them, using the same application form.
Archibald said applicants should think about the categories they have entered when answering questions in the application form.
A supreme winner will be selected from the category winners.
Applications close on October 15.
