HGHS student Unseasonal rain spoiled the party for the recent Hamilton Girls' High School annual swimming sports.

Non-competitive house games were cancelled, but that didn't stop competitive swimmers from getting into the water. They braved the rough weather and put 100 per cent into their heats.

One of the competitive girls to impress was Year 12's Stephanie Miles, who recorded two firsts and two seconds in her timed heats. Stephanie thinks swimming sports at Hamilton Girls' High School is fun and a good chance for the school to get together and show off swimming skills.

As well as being involved with swimming sports, Stephanie is heavily involved with waterpolo and thinks it would be a great addition to the swimming sports.

Stephanie began waterpolo in Year 6, however, before that she played flipper ball - the junior version of waterpolo. In Year 7 she was selected for the Waikato team.

She trains year-round; the amount of training varies, but at the moment competitions are coming up so she trains with the team every day.

Stephanie is looking forward to the Panpacifics, a bi-ennial international Waterpolo competition in Auckland in July.
