It will be a war of attrition as Pikiao Warriors take on Turangawaewae at Puketawhero Park tomorrow.

The Warriors have two wins from two games so far and share the Blue section division in the Waicoa Bay premier competition, but they come up against a tougher opponent in Turangawaewae.

Pikiao made relatively easy work of Hamilton Hornets last weekend with a 66-14 flogging.

However, they take on a wounded Turangawaewae side who had a 32-all draw with Tauranga Whalers at Waipuna Park.

The Waikato-based side are always dangerous and despite not yet registering a win in the competition, they are too good to be taken lightly.

Joint Blue section leaders Ngaruawahia Panthers will most likely inflict another painful defeat on the hapless Hornets when the the two teams meet at Resthills Park tomorrow.

The Hornets have suffered two huge 60-plus-point losses in the first two rounds of the competition and things are unlikely to change against a team which is favoured to be at the grand finals table.

On the Western Bay front, Otumoetai Eels take on their league neighbours Tauranga Whalers at Mitchell Park.

A loss for either team could spell the end of a semifinal berth.

Otumoetai came up short against Ngaruawahia, going down 26-10 last weekend at League Park.

In the Black section it's a battle of the two top Waikato teams Taniwharau and Hamilton City Tigers.

The Tigers were too strong for Pacific Sharks last weekend with a 34-24 win over their Tokoroa neighbours while Taniwharau beat Taupo Phoenix 40-30 at Davies Park.

Both Hamilton teams know how important a win tomorrow would be to their semifinal chances.

Taupo and Hukanui will be looking for their first win of the Waicoa Bay season when they clash at Resthills tomorrow. The home side had the bye last weekend and should be well rested for the battle, while Taupo are still having to lick their wounds.

All games kick off at 2.30pm.

Draw: Black section; Hukanui v Taupo, Resthills; Taniwharau v Hamilton City Tigers, Davies Park; Pacific bye.

Blue section; Hamilton Hornets v Ngaruawahia, Resthills; Pikiao v Turangawaewae, Puketawhero Park; Otumoetai v Tauranga, Mitchell Park.
