Sight-impaired Hamilton bowler Sue Curran brought back silver and bronze medals from the recent Blind World Lawn Bowls Championships.
Held in Worthing, West Sussex, UK, and aided by her director Christine Foster, Sue managed the unseasonably hot English summer weather to claim silver in her category of the ladies singles and a bronze in the mixed pairs.
Her partner in the pairs, James Dunn (director, Bryan Dunn), from Paeroa, also took out bronze in his singles division.
Sue has been bowling for only two years and this was her first international experience. She and Christine are now looking forward to the New Zealand nationals, in Petone in December, and the November New Zealand Disabled Open tournament, in Henderson.
Sue and Christine were proud to wear the Alandale Lifestyle Village logo on their outfits to show their appreciation of the sponsorship afforded them through village manager Ross Ferguson. Sue is a resident in the village.
