A man was left with moderate injuries after allegedly being hit by a car at the intersection of Tauwhare and Platt Rds early Saturday.

A Waikato woman has handed herself in and appeared in court after an alleged hit and run on the outskirts of Hamilton.

Hina Darlene Graham, of Pukemoremore, lives just metres from the alleged crime scene near the intersection of Tauwhare and Platt Rds, just south of Hamilton.

A male pedestrian was injured while walking along Tauwhare Rd about 1am on Sunday.

A broken mirror was all that remained at the scene and police put an appeal on Facebook to find its owner.

Graham, 42, appeared in the Hamilton District Court yesterday charged with failing to stop and ascertain injury after an accident where a person was injured and careless driving causing injury on Tauwhare Rd on July 23.

The charge has a maximum fine of $20,000 or five years' prison.

Graham was remanded on bail without plea to reappear next month.
