Wales coach Warren Gatland could be out of the job this week with the Wales Rugby Union to discuss his future on Thursday, according to reports.

It comes after Wales suffered their 14th straight test defeat and first loss in Italy in 18 years. The side has slipped to 12th in the World Rugby rankings.

Wales failed to win a test in 2024 and have lost their opening two Six Nations matches to France and Italy. They finish the tournament with tests against Ireland, Scotland and England in the coming weeks.

“I know how hard we are working,” Gatland told S4C after the Italy defeat.

“I can understand people’s frustration and we are frustrated and disappointed as well because we created opportunities but we have made mistakes and the penalty count was disappointing.

“As a coaching team and players they are not hard fixes but we need to make sure we focus in those key moments.”

According to Wales Online, if the WRU were to sack Gatland before the end of the current season it could cost them in the region of £2m ($4.39m).
