Waikato Police are seeking the public's help in locating a Paeroa man who they warn should not be approached.

Acting Sergeant Lara Beisly of the Paeroa Police said a Parole Board Recall Warrant was issued on 10 December for 21-year-old Ryan Eruini Rangi who they believe is actively avoiding Police.

"A male Maori, Rangi is very distinctive as he is 2m tall and of solid build.

"He has a history of violent offending and anyone who sees or recognises him is advised not to approach him but to ring 111 immediately."

Anyone with any information on Rangi's whereabouts is asked to contact Ms Beisly at the Paeroa Police Station on (07) 862 8744.
