Waikato road closed after truck hits pedestrian southeast of Matamata, serious injuries reported

A Waikato road is closed after a collision between a truck and a pedestrian.

Police said Te Poi Rd, southeast of Matamata, will be closed for some time after a crash north of the intersection with State Highway 29 just after 1pm.

“Indications are that the pedestrian is seriously injured,” police said.

“The Serious Crash Unit will be in attendance.”

Te Poi Rd is closed between the State Highway 24 and State Highway 29 intersections, and motorists are asked to avoid the area.
