Emergency services were called to the two-vehicle crash, involving a car and a truck, near the Puketaha Rd and Taylor Rd intersection about 1pm on Wednesday.
Police said one person died at the scene and another hadminor injuries.
The Serious Crash Unit completed its scene examination and the road has reopened.
