Waikato butchers have scooped up a heap of medals in this year's Great New Zealand Sausage Competition.
The butchery team at New World Te Rapa in Hamilton, had a big reason to celebrate as they took home four medals, with the Lamb Tagine and Te Rapa Pride Pure Porksausage both taking a silver medal, and the Roast Pork, Apple Sauce and Crackling and Boerewors collecting a bronze.
Chris Nicol, butchery manager at New World Te Rapa, said the team were ecstatic with the results, given their recent success.
"In 2018 we won New Zealand's top sausage with our popular Angus Beef Sausage through to 2019 where we won a gold medal for our Lamb, Truffle and Parmesan sausage."
"We're really happy with how the competition turned out. We would have preferred a few more awards, obviously, but we'll take what we got."
A record-breaking 605 entries were received from all over the country from nearly 100 sausage providers across 17 categories in this year's Great New Zealand Sausage Competition.
The 2020 Supreme Award winner was Grey Lynn Butchers in Auckland.
