A woman, 30, has been arrested in relation to the alleged prolific shoplifting of approximately $10,000 of goods stolen from stores across the Waikato and Counties Manukau.

She was arrested in Huntly on Sunday.

Police staff recognised the woman as she crossed Harris St, and the officers arrested her without incident.

She had a warrant out for her arrest after failing to turn up for court on December 16 last year on charges of shoplifting. She now faces 15 shoplifting charges, after a further 11 charges were laid yesterday, as well as a charge of possession of utensils.

Police acknowledge the impact this offending has on local businesses and encourage retailers to continue to report suspicious activity, along with CCTV footage through Auror for Police to follow up.
