Members of Tribal Huk deliver a message to any would-be P dealers in Ngaruawahia today

Tribal Huk gang leader Jamie Pink spent the weekend in mental health care after being arrested on gun charges.

Pink was arrested and charged with firearms offences on Friday after police took his vehicle which was riddled with bullet holes.

It follows claims by Pink he had been shot at and "lost an eyeball" in a so-called war to rid Ngaruawahia of the drug methamphetamine. He said "two little old ladies" shot at him as he sped away in his black SUV.

There is no record of Pink being hospitalised at Waikato Hospital for an eye injury and a police spokesman said no complaint had been laid in relation to the alleged shooting of the vehicle they had examined.

Two shotguns were found in Pink's vehicle and charges were laid after he was interviewed by police about his public statements.

The Herald understands police are forensically examining the bullet holes in the SUV and the weapons seized from Pink.

He was granted police bail to the Waikato District Health Board's Henry Bennett Centre at the weekend. He was today granted leave ahead of his court appearance.

Police earlier confirmed a 45-year-old man was due to appear in the Hamilton District Court on Wednesday on charges of unlawful possession of firearms.

A community meeting is being held in the tiny Waikato town on Thursday night in an effort to re-address community concerns about its increasing levels of crime.

Pink hijacked another meeting held earlier this month by saying he would give P dealers in the town 24 hours to get out - or they would be spoken to.

He claims to have since kicked out 14 dealers from the area.

Police said they could not comment further now the matter was before the courts.
