Crews battled a fire at commerical premises in Taupō overnight.

A Fire and Emergency spokesperson said they received multiple calls to a fire at the property about 11.52pm.

“Five crews arrived to find the 14 x 14m property well involved, especially in the rear of the property.

“A full evacuation was carried out and the fire was extinguished at 2.30am.

“A fire investigator has already visited the scene and it’s not being treated as suspicious.”

A police spokesperson said a scene guard was in place following a fire at a commercial premises on Oruanui St.

They said the building was unoccupied at the time.
