Soundsplash is celebrating 25 years and returns to Wainui Reserve tomorrow.
The annual Soundsplash Festival at Raglan’s Wainui Reserve is celebrating its 25th anniversary this weekend.
Police are expecting an extra 8000 people to be in the area for the event.
Before the festival, which starts tomorrow and runs until Sunday, police issued a heavy traffic warning and urged drivers totake “extreme care” on the roads.
“Traffic congestion leading into and out of Raglan on SH23 is expected to be heaviest on the morning of Friday, January 16, and most of the day on Sunday, January 18,” police said in a statement.
Senior Sergeant David Hall said the festival, coupled with a busy summer season, will be reflected in the number of cars on the open road.
“We recommend ... those intending to travel to or from Raglan this weekend to plan their trip and take [their] time due to the queues of traffic expected.
“We’d like to see good driving behaviour to ensure everyone can travel and get home safely.“
In addition to keeping an eye on safe driving, police will also patrol the festival grounds to ensure the safety of festival-goers.
