State Highway 29 has reopened north of the Pairere roundabout, following a crash that downed powerlines near Hinuera.

An NZ Transport Agency update at 3.15pm confirmed the road was open, after being closed since morning.

Emergency services were alerted to a two-car crash near Hopkins Rd around 8.40am, police said.

“One person has received moderate injuries.”

Hato Hone St John was notified of the crash at 8.38am and took one patient to Waikato Hospital in a moderate condition.

“This closure is expected to remain in place for several hours while downed powerlines are cleared from the road.”

Motorists were advised to follow diversions, expect delays and take extra care.
