Police say a truck and car have collided on SH29. Photo / NZME

One person is reported to be seriously injured after a car and truck collided on State Highway 29.

Police were called at 10.35am.

“A car and truck had collided at a T-intersection,” police said.

“One person is reported to have serious injuries.”

Hato Hone St John said it was currently on the scene with one first response unit, one ambulance and one rapid response vehicle.

“One patient is currently being transported to Waikato Hospital in a serious condition.”

Police said the crash is on SH29/Tauranga Road, near the intersection of SH24.

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) reported SH24 was closed off at Te Poi Rd.

A highway alert from the roading agency this afternoon reported the road to be open.
