One person has died following a serious crash on a major Highway in Hamilton this morning.

The two-truck crash on Mangaharakeke Drive/ State Highway 1C, Horotiu was reported at around 11am.

“Sadly, the driver of one vehicle died at the scene”, a police statement said.

“No further injuries were reported.”

Police said the road remains closed southbound near the Te Rapa Road off-ramp while the Serious Crash Unit conduct a scene examination.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and expect delays.

Fire and Emergency responded with three fire trucks and one incident support vehicle.

A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said one ambulance, one operations manager, and one rapid response unit went to the scene.
