State Highway 29 crash: One person dead in collision involving truck

One person has died following a crash on State Highway 29 in the Kaimai Range.

The crash involving a truck and another vehicle closed the highway on the Matamata side of the range about 5.45pm yesterday.

One person died at the scene, police said this morning.

The Serious Crash unit conducted a scene examination and inquiries were ongoing.

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi said the road reopened about 2.36am. Earlier a section of SH29 was closed in both directions between Gargan Rd and Rapurapu Rd.
