A section of State Highway 26 near Tirohia in Waikato is closed following a vehicle fire.

Police said emergency services were called to a report of a vehicle on fire on the side of the highway at about 2.20pm.

“Thankfully, no one was injured.”

The section of SH26 between Quarry Rd and Cadman Rd is expected to remain closed for some time while emergency services work at the scene.

“The fire has been extinguished and crews are currently dampening down hotspots.”
