Search-and-rescue crews have resumed riverbed searches along the Waikato River to find a man who jumped off Pukete Bridge last night.

The man jumped off the bridge at 7.45pm yesterday and briefly resurfaced before he went under and wasn’t seen again.

Police and Fire and Emergency New Zealand undertook an extensive search of the water and riverbank last night but did not locate the man.

LandSAR staff were conducting a riverbank search, and other SAR staff were being deployed in a boat again to search the area of the river where the man was seen to enter the water.
