When local Labour MP Sue Moroney accepted the challenge to grow a giant pumpkin for the 2017 Pumpkin Festival, she headed to Aberdeen Primary School for help.
"I like the idea of partnering with a local school and I recalled that Aberdeen School had established raised gardens for its studentsa few years ago," said Sue.
"Room 14 teacher Kristie Gribben put her hand up to partner with me on this project and her Year 1 students have planted and watered our joint venture," she said.
The challenge is to grow the largest - or most interesting - giant pumpkin for the celebrity weigh-in at the Pumpkin Festival to be held at the Hamilton Gardens on April 2.
"I know that next year's new entrant students at Aberdeen will get as much knowledge and pleasure out of growing this pumpkin as I will. I can't wait to see the result."
