Woman found dead, homicide investigation underway in Tūrangi

A homicide investigation has been launched following the death of a woman in Tūrangi.

Emergency services were called to an address on Hinerangi St about 6.30am, where the victim was found deceased.

A homicide investigation is under way, and a scene guard is at the property, which is about 50km southwest of Taupō.

“We would like to hear from any witnesses or anybody with CCTV footage from the incident,” a police spokesperson said.

Earlier today, the incident was described as a “serious family harm” event.

A resident on Hinerangi St said ambulance, police and Fire and Emergency were on the scene.

They had heard there had been a fight, but knew little more.

A Hato Hone St John Ambulance spokeswoman confirmed there was an incident at a private residential address in Tūrangi this morning.

“We have no further information to provide.”
