Police say the death of a teenager in Hamilton overnight is being treated as unexplained.

Emergency services were called to a Forest Lake address shortly before 12.30am after reports a 19-year-old woman was in an unresponsive state.

“On arrival, medical staff confirmed she had sadly died,” Detective Senior Sergeant Kristine Clarke said.
