The crash happened in Tapapa in the vicinity of the intersection of Harwoods Rd and State Highway 5. Map / Google Maps

One person is trapped in a crashed car in Waikato.

The police said two cars collided at Tapapa in the vicinity of Harwoods Rd at its intersection with State Highway 5. The alarm was raised at 11.39am.

The trapped person is being extricated by the Fire and Emergency Service.

"It appears there may be one other person injured as well," a police spokeswoman said.
