One person was found dead at the scene of a Waikato crash overnight.

One person has died following a crash in Ngāruawāhia overnight.

Police were called to the single-vehicle crash on Soulbrey Rd around 8pm.

A police spokesperson said the person was found dead at the scene.

The road was closed while the Serious Crash Unit examined the scene.

Inquiries into the circumstances of the crash were ongoing.
