Night at the Proms promises an evening full of heart in Hamilton

Millions of people are hooked on The Proms for good reason — famous music, great performers and an atmosphere full of heart and bubbling with fun.

Trust Waikato Symphony Orchestra and Cantando Choir present A Night at the Proms at the Hamilton Gardens Pavilion, the largest orchestra and choir ever to perform at the venue.

The Proms are a famous British tradition started in 1895 as a way to allow commoners to attend concerts.

Hamilton hasn't seen a Proms since the closure of Founders Theatre.

In French "se promener" means "to walk", so the founding idea was that people could have standing places at minimal cost.

Today, the Last Night of the Proms is the most celebrated and ends a summer series of concerts.

Millions around the globe watch it on television. People queue for hours for prime standing room and add to the magical atmosphere by dressing-up and waving flags.

A Night at the Proms promises all the fanfare — and it won't just be Elgar providing Pomp and Circumstance.

Internationally acclaimed Anna Hawkins returns to warm hearts.

Characterised by her expressive vocals and moving interpretations, the New Zealand songstress is well-known to Kiwi audiences.

A regular at festivals and major events, she has toured the country twice and recorded with world-class musicians, orchestras and producers in Poland, London and Israel as well as New Zealand creating three unique full-length albums.

Special guests — the Pearly Queen, and Major Blunder and the Fifth Waikato Dragoons — will satisfy the comical side of the Proms.

English-themed food trucks will be on site, and concert-goers are encouraged to dress up, wear the colours and wave the flags.
With plenty of opportunity to sing along to all the songs you love, the Hamilton Gardens will be bursting with spirit.

There are only 500 tickets available for this special event.

It is expected that the night will sell out so early bookings are recommended.

A Night at the Proms, conducted by Rupert D'Cruze, has the one performance on Saturday 17 November at 7.30 pm.
