In the third week of the Vege King indoor open premier grade there were two games resulting in closer scores.

As the "underdog" in their game against First Credit Union Verdettes Marist, FTNC Premier 1 started strongly and at half time there was only six goals the difference with the
score 26 goals to 20.

In the second half and in particular the final quarter Verdettes Marist showed their dominance and pulled ahead but all credit to the FTNC Premier 1 team for their performance.

The final score was 54 goals to 33. For Verdettes Marist there was some great work by Linda Simon who showed skill and composure playing at both ends of the court firstly at wing defence then goal shoot.

For FTNC Premier 1 the defence was outstanding with Renee (Muffy) Gudgeon at goal keep and Georgina Speedy at goal defence both having exceptional games.

Uni Premier and FTNC Premier had a closely fought first quarter with the game drawn at this early stage.

Uni Premier then had a massive second quarter to lead at half time 31 goals to 17.

This game was an intense physical match and the final score did not reflect the game.

For Uni Prem Jessie Taana at both goal attack then goal shoot was a calm influence down the attacking end creating play and shooting accurately obtaining 93%.

Ariana Cable-Dixon proved a key link in the mid court showing vision on attack and chasing every ball on defence. Rachael Fabling in defence was a menace in the goal circle.

For FTNC Premier Rachel Beale at goal defence played a strong defensive game gaining several intercepts, tips and turnover ball for her team. At the opposite end of the court Grace Namana at goal shoot was solid and she shot at 85%.

New World Rototuna Suburbs Premier showcased all their players in their game against Hautapu Premier.

Rototuna Suburbs Premier led from start to finish and at half time led 34 goals to 14. The final score was 81 goals to 21.

Rototuna Suburbs Premier were ruthless in the second half of the game severely restricting Hautapu Premier's ability to score goals.

Emily Patterson at wing defence then goal defence created a huge amount of turnover ball and was a strong presence through court on attack. Shannon O'Donnell whose fitness and agility caused havoc in the mid court played in a variety of positions.

The game also saw Samantha Sinclair back on court for the club at centre for half the game, loving every minute of it.

For Hautapu Premier the team is having to adjust as they come up against the top teams in the competition and they were encouraged by their strong, patient and controlled start to this game only seven goals adrift at the end of the first quarter.

More work is required on being able to be competitive over the entire 60 minutes.

Danielle de Waard at goal keep was a work horse and provided some outstanding defence of the shot.
