Tommos Bakery and Catering Indoor Premier Results

New World Rototuna Suburbs Premier 59 vs FTNC Premier 1 26
Uni Premier 91 vs Hautapu Premier 27
First Credit Union Verdettes Marist 59 vs FTNC Premier 46

The first week of the Tommos Bakery and Catering Indoor Premier competition saw those highest ranked playing those lowest ranked in the grade i.e. 1 vs 6 and was a result there as a big score in the game between Uni Prem and Hautapu Premier.

Uni Prem showed ruthless precision and determination in their game against Hautapu. They led from start to finish and showed little mercy for their opposition applying pressure throughout the court. Hautapu Premier have been recently promoted into the competition and to their credit, the players never gave up and at times they had some nice phases of play. The final score was 91 goals to 27.

New World Rototuna Suburbs Premier was also dominant in their game against FTNC Premier 1 winning each quarter comprehensively. At half time they led by 18 goals. The final score was 59 goals to 26.

For Suburbs Premier the game saw all 12 players have the opportunity to take the court. Monica Falkner at goal attack was strong shooting at 91 per cent. Emily Patterson at goal defence then wing defence had a high work rate and she combined well with young school girl Kate Littlejohn at goal keep to create turnover ball. For FTNC Premier 1, they too have been recently promoted into the competition and the team gave it a good consistent effort and were steady the whole 60 minutes.

The game between First Credit Union Verdettes Marist and FTNC Premier was a highly competitive and well contested game. At the end of the first quarter Verdettes Marist had a narrow four goal lead. This was extended to a nine goal lead by half time and thirteen goals at three quarter time. The last quarter was a draw. The final score was 59 goals to 46.

For Verdettes Marist, Ellen Halpenny and Jess Shed in the shooting circle had strong games shooting consistently well. At the opposite end of the court Laura Schnuriger at goal keep was outstanding on defence obtaining a lot of ball.

Overall it was a team defensive effort throughout the court. For FNTC Premier, Dawn Wakelin at wing attack in the second half and in her first game back after an ACL injury played like she never been away. Halana Leith at centre in the second half brought leadership and a calm head to the attacking end and was a key link for the team.
