A man is in stable condition in hospital after receiving critical injuries during an incident in Chartwell, Hamilton.

Police said emergency services were called to an address at Emerald Place about 7.45pm on Friday.

Ambulance staff found a man with critical injuries on arrival. The man was in stable condition in Waikato Hospital this morning.

Police were at the scene working to understand how the man received his injuries.
