A Hamilton made is alleged to have walked into a Hamilton Work and Income office and threatened staff.

A man is alleged to have walked into a Hamilton Work and Income office, threatening staff.

Waikato Senior Sergeant Phil Ruddell said police were called to the Five Cross Roads office about 9am today after one of their clients allegedly walked in and made threats to a staff member.

The man left and the staff immediately locked the doors, he said.

Police were called and the man was found nearby.

A man, 55, is due to appear in the Hamilton District Court facing charges in regards to the alleged threats.
