A man arrested after several alleged kidnapping attempts across Waikato over the past month has been granted interim name suppression.

The Waikato man did not seek bail or enter a plea when he appeared in the Hamilton District Court this afternoon.

He was granted interim name suppression and was remanded in custody to reappear in court next month on one charge of kidnapping.

Yesterday, Detective Sergeant Simon Evans said over the previous three days, the 31-year-old man allegedly made abduction attempts in Paeroa and Huntly as well as an attempt in Hamilton last month.

Police were continuing to offer the complainants ongoing support, Evans said.
