Video of logs spilling from a detached truck trailer on State Highway 30, narrowly missing other motorists, has emerged online.

The dashcam video, posted on YouTube two days ago, shows a logging truck travelling on SH30 near Ātiamuri on Tuesday.

The logging truck trailer is shown clipping another truck travelling in the opposite direction.

The driver behind the dashcam can be heard swearing as the logging truck trailer detaches, with logs and debris flying off it.

The flying timber and debris narrowly miss the other cars on the road. The vehicle carrying the dashcam is shown swerving to avoid a collision.

A comment below the YouTube clip from the driver said: “Car behind me unfortunately was unable to avoid hitting logs, luckily no one was injured.”

The incident was reported to police on Tuesday just before 4pm.

In a statement released that afternoon, police advised motorists to expect delays on State Highway 30 at Kinleith in the Bay of Plenty after logs spilled from a trailer that became separated from a logging truck.

The incident occurred between Ohakuri and Pukerimu Rds.

Police said no injuries were reported but “at least one vehicle was damaged after hitting a log.”
