Amie Jefferies says she never even wanted to own her own hair salon, but that's exactly what she's found herself doing after the one she was working for went into liquidation.
And she says it's now the best thing she has ever done.
"It just feels so right, like itwas always meant to be – it's the best feeling," says Aimie.
Amie opened Hide Away Hair, also co-owned by her partner Adam Ryburn, in December last year at 2/246 Alexandra Street right next door to Cut Throat Barbers.
She has two other hairdressers working alongside her, Brooke Kenny and Sarah Walker.
They have 34 years of combined experience in the hairdressing industry, each enjoying varying things about their jobs.
Amie takes to big makeovers, Brooke favours short, textured cuts and balyages, and Sarah likes working with long hair, soft natural colours and is the one to go to for a hair-up.

The entire service menu includes colours, foils, balyages, toners, cuts, styling, blow-waves, hair-ups, hot towel treatments and relaxation massages.
Despite being only months into running the business, Amie says there are already plans to expand the salon and to bring on another hairdresser.
"We do have another side of the salon that we will open up eventually," says Amie.
The décor of the salon has a neutral boho feel to it featuring white walls, rattan furniture, wooden benches and circle mirrors.
Amie says it was important to her to create a space that felt comfortable for her and the salon's clients to be in.
"I wanted it to be a chilled out and relaxing place, I want to come to work every day and feel like I'm at home and the clients like that too - that it's nice and cosy and has a really nice vibe," says Amie.
The renovation and fit-out of the space had to all be done in the space of a week to ensure they were ready on opening day.
Amie says that monstrous task was made possible thanks to family and friends who all pitched in, and especially Mylchreest Electrical who had an electrician working outside of normal hours to get the wiring done.
"We were in here on Saturday afternoon and finished at 3.30am in the morning on Monday, the day we opened," says Amie.
