A huge fire broke out at an automotive repair shop in Hamilton this evening.

Eleven fire appliances and fire crews being called from as far away as Ngaruawahia to contain the blaze at the ARPZ Auto Repair store on Sheffield Street, Te Rapa.

Owner Hanany Dela Cruz said they had no idea how the fire had started. "The shop was closed because everyone goes to church on Saturday,'' Dela Cruz said.

Fire crews blocked off the street while crews battled to bring the fire under control.
