Key questions for Hamilton Gardens will be developed during coming months as new management and strategic plans come into play.
Hamilton Gardens is required to have a Reserves Act Management Plan, says director Peter Sergel. "Our plan is due for review. As part of this process, we want public input."
Written contributions can be sent to Mr Sergel, director of Hamilton Gardens, c/- Hamilton CC, PB 3010, or email hamilton.gardens@hcc.govt.nz.
He says the management plan review dovetails with the development of a strategic plan for Hamilton Gardens.
Stakeholder organisations have put forward their views and Mr Sergel says council and gardens management want community input.
He says there are questions the public should consider as part of the feedback, including what success looks like for Hamilton Gardens and the steps necessary to achieve the success.
Mr Sergel invites Hamiltonians interested in the future of the gardens to a public open day at the Hamilton Gardens Pavilion's Rotary Room on Sunday, July 14, 10-3pm.
"For people who can't make it to the open day, we welcome written suggestions and comments - we need those in by July 26," Mr Sergel says.
Ideas and suggestions put forward by the public will be reviewed by the strategic plan working party.
Late next month, a draft management plan for Hamilton Gardens will be refined and in late September it will be available for viewing and further comment. Submissions on the draft plan close in late November.
Hamilton City Libraries and Waikato Museum will soon be following similar processes.
