Husband charged with careless driving causing death of wife, Julia Organ, in Waikato crash

Te Awamutu woman Julia Organ died after a crash on State Highway 23 last year.

The husband of a woman who died in a crash on the outskirts of Hamilton has been charged with causing her death.

Julia Organ, 55, died on August 9 last year after the car she was travelling in crashed into a tree on State Highway 23 near the Ferguson Rd intersection, near Whatawhata.

Emergency services were called to the scene at about 9am.

Two others who were travelling in the vehicle suffered serious injuries, while one was left with minor injuries.

Organ’s husband, Grant Organ, was driving at the time and was charged this month with careless driving causing her death.

The 53-year-old Te Awamutu man made a brief first appearance in the Hamilton District Court last week.

He did not enter a plea to the charge and is due to return to court next month.

A Givealittle page, set up days after the crash, has raised $4620 for the grief-stricken family.
