Emergency crews responded to a house fire on Bayley Rd at Parawera, south-east of Te Awamutu on Wednesday.

A Waikato Herald reporter on the scene said there were three fire trucks, a water truck and another Fire and Emergency vehicle on site.

A Fire and Emergency Spokesperson said that Fire and Emergency crews were alerted to a structure fire at around 10.26am.

The single-story dwelling was fully involved in fire when crews arrived. Crews were able to extinguish the fire around 1pm.

Eighty per cent of the house has been damaged by fire.

Fire investigators attended and the cause of the fire was deemed accidental, likely caused by an electrical fault.

Police were also notified of scrub fires in the Bayley Rd area on February 11 and made initial enquiries. However, the matter has been filed as there are no further lines of enquiry.
