Police have named US tourist Marcia Diana Shattuck as the victim of a fatal crash in Waikato before Christmas.

The 58-year-old American citizen was on holiday in New Zealand when she died in a crash on State Highway 25 in Orongo on December 19.

In a statement released today, police said Shattuck was visiting the country on holiday.

“Police extend our sympathies to her family and loved ones,” the statement said.

“Inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.”

Shattuck was one of 13 people killed on New Zealand roads over the holidays.

The two-vehicle crash was first reported to emergency services just after 10.10am on December 19.

Shattuck died at the scene. Two other people were seriously injured.
