The buyer of the $4.25 million Lotto powerball ticket told his wife he would win.

Purchased at the Glenview Centre Lotto and Post in Hamilton, the local said it will not change his life.

"I said to my wife, 'We're going to win, I'd better get a ticket.' I even lined up in the queue and it's not like me to be patient.

"It's only money, it doesn't change who you are.

"I'm not going to go out and buy a Ferrari or anything - although, maybe a new Holden," the man told Fairfax.

The couple were at home when he checked the winning numbers on his iPad.

"I can't wait to ring the phone banking lady and hear her say how much money is in my account," he told Fairfax.
