A man has been arrested after a dramatic gang shootout at a property in Huntly.

A group of men carrying firearms approached a property in west Huntly on Thursday at about 7pm.

There was an argument between the group and the occupants of the house, Detective Senior Sergeant Scott McKenzie said.

Someone inside the house then shot at the men, who returned fire, he said.

No injuries were reported.

“This morning, police executed a search warrant at a Huntly address in relation to this incident, where a 54-year-old patched gang member was arrested,” McKenzie said.

The gang member has been charged with discharging a firearm at a person and participating in an organised criminal group and is due to appear in the Hamilton District Court on Monday.

Police are seeking sightings of a silver FG Ford Falcon XR6 with the registration QCD523.
