As the LottoNRFL season enters it final weeks, there are a few uncertainties that remain.

Despite a 2-1 loss to Waiheke United, Melville should still come away with the division one trophy to go with their promotion back to the premier league.

Claudelands FC will remain in division two and will push again for promotion next season, and Hamilton Wanderers find themselves in a title scrap that could go down to the wire.

Claudelands FC v Onehunga Mangere United

The omens were good for Claudelands on Saturday. The team was coming from a 9-0 win the previous weekend, while co-coach Shane Comber had earlier scored a goal in his own game on Saturday morning, despite pulling his quad muscle in the process.

Unfortunately for Shane, his thunder was again stolen by his son Owen, who continues to impress at the age of 16. He scored another double for his side and set up plenty as Claudelands ran Onehunga Mangere ragged with a 10-2 win.

Jake Bayliss kicked off the scoring with his second goal in two games, before Henry Stephens tucked away a penalty, as coach Mark Cossey stayed behind the dugouts, citing bad omens.

Jono Viviani scored a hat-trick while new signing Lewis Mitchell Donald also scored another hat-trick, his second in two weeks.

The team has continued to grow and play strong passing football over the season, despite missing out on promotion.

"That was like playing a piano, it was a beautiful," Cossey said from the sidelines after one attacking move, before yelling at his team "That was rubbish boys".

"You can't give them too many compliments," Cossey said.

Hamilton Wanderers Premier women's v Forrest Hill Milford

On Sunday Hamilton Wanderers played host to Forrest Hill, for the third time in as many weeks.

The rain had again made an appearance and drenched the pitch.

Wanderers started strongly in possession, but were unable to convert any of the chances that they made before Forrest took the lead.

Michela Pesce was left with too much space to shoot in and her chipped shot sailed over goalkeeper Sophie Daly giving Forrest the lead.

Roughly 10 minutes later, Forrest had doubled that lead with another effort that was too high for the outstretched arms of Daly.

Wanderers had found themselves in the all too familiar position of being down against Forrest Hill.

In the second half, Wanderers again started the half off strongly and found a goal early on through Ella Golding.

As the game wore on Wanderers was unable to grab the important equaliser and suffered its fourth defeat to Forrest Hill this season.

They now face a tough journey up State Highway one on Sunday to face league leaders Glenfield Rovers.
