Fatal crash on SH39 in Waikato closes road, causes delays

One person has died after a car crash in rural Waikato this morning.

Police were alerted to the single vehicle crash in Ngāhinapōuri, southwest of Hamilton, at around 8.55am. The accident took place on State Highway 39.

The person died at the scene, despite the efforts of emergency services. No one else was injured in the crash.

The road has been closed while the Serious Crash Unit examines the scene. Delays are expected.
