Fashion, flair and all things French come together for an annual charity event next week in the Cambridge Town Hall.

Fashion Over a Teacup is a fundraiser fashion parade organised by Hospice Waikato and a dedicated group of volunteers.

This year's event is French-themed, paying homage to Cambridge's sister city Le Quesnoy, which was liberated by New Zealanders in World War I.

During the event guests will enjoy a high tea and fashion parade, with all items shown in the parade later for sale in a pop-up shop in the town hall.

All proceeds from the annual event go to Hospice Waikato.

The clothing shown is selected from Waikato's eight Hospice shops, including Te Awamutu and Cambridge.

Strutting their stuff on the catwalk will be Hospice Waikato volunteers, staff, doctors, nurses, social workers and counsellors.

Hospice Waikato marketing and fundraising assistant Nichola Page says there in an impressive line-up of clothes and accessories for show and for sale.

"There is designer clothing that still has labels or has never been worn," she says.

She says there is "something on that catwalk for everyone".

"The clothes being shown are affordable and we're dressing real people of all ages and body types."

Nichola says the charity event is one not to be missed.

"It's a lovely opportunity to get some girlfriends together — mothers, daughters, grandmothers — for a delightful afternoon of food and fashion."

The event aims to celebrate the work Hospice Waikato does — providing specialist palliative care for over 1400 patients in the Waikato region.

"It's about celebrating who we are and the essence of what we do. Hospice is very much about living every moment, making memories and enjoying life, because life is too short."

Fashion Over a Teacup is in the Cambridge Town Hall on Sunday, March 31 at 1.30pm.

Guests are invited to dress with their own French flair.

Tickets $50 from Cambridge Paper Plus or hospicewaikato.org.nz.
