The New Zealand Community Trust Association of Intermediate and Middle Schooling (AIMS) Games are entering their 12th year and, in the build up to the games, key sponsor Anchor is hosting training sessions around the country.
As part of that, three Hamilton intermediate schools' netballers spent some time this weekbeing coached by Kia Magic netballer Leana De Bruin.
Students from Maeroa, Fairfield and Peachgrove intermediate schools gathered at Maeroa Intermediate on Monday afternoon, where De Bruin took them through a series of warm-ups, ball handling exercises and gave some sage advice for competing at the top of their game when the competition heats up.
This year will see 8000 children take part in the AIMS Games in Tauranga in September - more than the 5000 who competed at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014.
The AIMS Games have evolved into the biggest intermediate aged multi-code sporting event in New Zealand.
