Claudelands Rovers men's early season woes are behind them as they continued their promotion push with a 6-1 win over Northland FC.

The win puts Rovers up to fourth on the table with nine points and now firmly in the fight for promotion to division one.

The match started well for Rovers as Jacob Robb scored his first goal of the season, before Owen Comber grabbed a second for them.

Northland pulled a goal back against the Hamilton side, but a Bailey Webster double put Claudelands back in control 4-1 at half time.

In the second half, the goal scoring slowed down until the last five minutes when Jono Vivani scored twice to give Claudelands the win.

Further south in Auckland there was more success for the other two Hamilton men's team as Hamilton Wanderers picked up a 2-1 win over Three Kings.

Will Stephens scored his second goal of the season to give Wanderers the lead while Tommy Semmy doubled the scoreline just before half time.

Three Kings would pull one back but Wanderers held on for their fourth win of the season, which has them sitting at the top of the premier league table leading by one point.

In Waitemata, Melville United's unbeaten run continued with a 3-1 win over Waitemata FC.

Jordan Lamb scored a hat-trick to secure the win and keep Melville at the top of the division one table.

In the premier women's league it was a different story for both Hamilton Wanderers and Claudelands Rovers as they were defeated by Forrest Hill and Glenfield Rovers.

At Porritt Stadium in Hamilton, Forrest Hill brought Wanderers back down to earth with a 4-1 win over the home side.

Jane Barnett opened the scoring for Forrest with a speculating goal from distance, which caught Wanderers, and supporters, by surprise.

Sam Tawharu then doubled the lead for Forrest with a curling effort before the half time break leaving Wanderers 2-0 down.

A header from Bells Maynard and a long-range effort from Aneka Mittendorf finished the scoring for Forrest Hill, with Wanderers grabbing a consolation through Helen Talbot.

At Galloway Park, Claudelands women had their third defeat, leaving them bottom of the table.
